Travel Postcards: Journeys in India

For over a decade now, I have been travelling across India to capture photographs. I began by taking photographs while travelling with fellow photography enthusiasts back in college and on leisurely holidays with friends and family. Later, I made images while travelling on assignments as a journalist and also developed a few travel photo essays.

These photographs have remained scattered across various platforms: themed albums on my website (like this) and Facebook (like this), published works in newspapers and magazines (like this), and unprocessed files on my hard drives. On revisiting these photographs, I realised I had never placed them together to see if they tell a travel story. This sparked the idea for a personal project of curating an archive of my travel postcards — from the mountains of Arunachal to the beaches of Goa, from the Kumbh Mela to the Hornbill Festival, and from the backwaters of Kerala to the valley of Kashmir.

This collection features images made while on different journeys — walking with pilgrims, navigating winding mountain roads on my motorcycle, strolling by serene lakes, exploring bustling streets, trekking up hills, and watching the sunset on beaches. Some of the photos are touristy by design.

This project is a work in progress. If you want to buy prints, please email me at abhsaha@gmail.com.
